राष्ट्रीय मलेरिया उन्मूलन कार्यक्रम
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
Upgraded from the NMCP in 1958 following WHO's Global Malaria Eradication Campaign, the NMEP aimed to completely eradicate malaria from India through systematic DDT spraying and case surveillance. The programme initially achieved dramatic success reducing cases to under 50,000 by 1965, but resurgence occurred in the 1970s due to DDT resistance and funding cuts. NMEP continued in modified form until the National Anti-Malaria Programme (NAMP) was launched in 1995.
