नाबार्ड जनजातीय विकास कार्यक्रम — वाड़ी
Ministry of Finance (NABARD)
The Wadi (orchard) programme, pioneered by NABARD in Gujarat's tribal districts from 1990, enabled tribal families to plant and maintain small orchards of mango, cashew, or other fruit trees alongside a kitchen garden. Each wadi beneficiary received a subsidy for 100+ fruit saplings, input support for five years, and training. The model was highly successful and replicated across 15 states. NABARD's tribal development programmes were restructured under NABARD's Tribal Development Fund framework in 2004.
